Thomas Lang to Attend SAME Capital Week and Ukraine Symposium

Thomas Lang, Executive Director of the Rebuilding Ukraine Association Inc. (RUAI), will attend SAME Capital Week in Washington, D.C., March 24–26, where he will meet with representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), industry leaders, and policymakers to continue advancing partnerships supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and infrastructure development.

On March 24, Lang will also participate in the Ukraine Symposium: Defense and Civilian Sector Forecasts, hosted at the Bethesda North Marriott and organized by the SAME Ukraine Field Chapter in partnership with the SAME Blue Ridge Post, SAME DC Post, and the International Stability Operations Association (ISOA).

The symposium will feature two panel discussions addressing both the defense outlook for Ukraine in 2026 and the planning required to rebuild resilient civilian infrastructure, particularly in response to ongoing attacks on critical energy systems.

The event will include speakers and moderators from USACE, Parsons, the Atlantic Council, and other organizations actively engaged in Ukraine policy and reconstruction planning.

RUAI continues to engage with government, academic, and industry partners to support the development of project management and project controls training programs that will help build the professional capacity required to manage Ukraine’s long-term reconstruction.

SAME – Tri Services Conference

RUAI Engages U.S. and Ukrainian Partners at SAME Conferences

The Rebuilding Ukraine Association Inc. (RUAI) recently participated in the SAME Tri-Service Conference, continuing the organization’s engagement with U.S. and Ukrainian partners involved in Ukraine’s future reconstruction efforts.

During the conference, RUAI representatives met with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Europe District leadership and Ukrainian commanders to discuss cooperation on project management and project controls training programs designed to help build the professional capacity needed to support Ukraine’s reconstruction.

The event also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with SAME member firms and engineering industry leaders expected to play an important role in supporting infrastructure and construction projects across Ukraine in the years ahead.

RUAI previously led a Project Management and Project Controls workshop at the SAME Small Business Conference (SBC) in Phoenix, working with partners from the RUAI REUNITE Alliance, including representatives from Cal Poly, APSI Construction Management, and other industry collaborators, as well as Ukrainian partners including the State Special Transport Service (SSTS). The workshop focused on developing scalable education and workforce development programs aligned with Western project management standards.

Building on the momentum from these engagements, Thomas Lang, Executive Director of RUAI, will participate in SAME Capital Week in Washington, D.C., March 24–26, where he will meet with members of Congress and other policymakers to discuss the importance of strengthening project management and project controls training programs as a key component of Ukraine’s long-term reconstruction and infrastructure development.

Through continued engagement with SAME, USACE, industry leaders, and academic partners, RUAI is working to help connect U.S. expertise with Ukrainian institutions to support transparent, well-managed reconstruction programs across Ukraine.

The workshop was conducted in coordination with representatives of the Ukrainian State Special Transport Service (SSTS) and focused on the importance of developing modern project management, project controls, and construction management capacity to support Ukraine’s large-scale reconstruction effort.

The session highlighted RUAI’s ongoing collaboration with U.S. universities, engineering firms, and construction industry partners to establish scalable training programs that will help prepare the next generation of Ukrainian project managers and project controls professionals.

RUAI’s participation at the Phoenix SBC conference marked an important step in building stronger collaboration between U.S. industry leaders, Ukrainian government institutions, and academic partners working together to support Ukraine’s recovery and long-term infrastructure development.

SAME – JETC

May 6, 2025

RUAI will be attending the JETC conference and am looking forward to discussing how the recent U.S.-Ukraine critical minerals partnership, signed in 2025, marks a turning point. This agreement enables Ukraine to tap into its vast reserves of lithium, titanium, and rare earth elements—key inputs for global clean energy and defense industries. It is expected to unlock billions in foreign investment, generate substantial domestic revenue, and fuel Ukraine’s reconstruction budget for years to come.

REUNITE – Ukraine Veteran Education Program

November 30, 2023

Rebuilding Ukraine Association Inc (RUAI) through its RE-building Ukraine’s National Identity Though Education (REUNITE) initiative will deliver short-term and skills-centered academic programs in logistics and execution of modern construction and demining to Ukrainian veterans empowering them with critical knowledge and skills required for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Through its affiliated academic institutions in Ukraine and the USA, REUNITE will offer distance learning modalities to Ukrainian veterans in Ukraine (course-work will be disseminated through local Veterans Education Centers in Ukraine) and to Ukrainian veterans present in the USA for medical rehabilitation.

Graduates of this program will be awarded with certificates and are expected to be employed by affiliated companies performing demining, construction activities in Ukraine and the United States.

Currently, RUAI is consolidating efforts of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, The Halo Trust, the University of Florida, and several private firms in order to establish an international team aligned with REUNITE’s academic mission.

Additionally, RUAI is considering development of similar academic opportunities for Ukrainian refugees in the USA that are committed to returning to Ukraine.
